The five star hotel now buys the ten different teas it serves from specialist tea company Tea from the Manor, based in Holmes Chapel.
The partnership came about after a chance meeting at the Chester Food and Drink Festival between Tea from the Manor boss James Green and Chester Grosvenor general manager Ross Grieve.
Mr Grieve enjoyed a cup of freshly brewed tea as part of a tea tasting and was so impressed by the quality and taste that he switched supplier.
He said: “It’s great to be able to support a Cheshire company but the real reason we chose Tea from the Manor is because their tea tastes wonderful.”
Tea from the Manor imports tea from around the world and their specialist tea menu includes Chai Spice and Gunpowder.
The tea is served loose in silver teapots in The Arkle Bar and Lounge and in luxury tea bags made from triangular silk pouches in La Brasserie.
Tea from the Manor is run by James Green, originally from Gorton, Manchester, who served with the Royal Horse Artillery in Northern Ireland, Hong Kong and Cyprus. After returning to “Civvy Street” he travelled the world working as a bodyguard for celebrities from pop stars to actors.
James Green said: “You drink a lot of tea when you’re in the armed forces, in the good times and at times of conflict, so I'm passionate about tea as a result.
“To supply tea to somewhere like The Chester Grosvenor is amazing and has had a massive impact on our business. Once you say you supply somewhere as prestigious as The Chester Grosvenor it opens doors.”
